6/14/09: A vein of sandstone rus through the dirt mounds. This is one of the few times that sandstone is ever the harder rock in a matrix. Most of badlands is made of silt that was laid down while the area was covered in a shallow sea. Waters have etched away these strange formations. They're only about 50,000 years old, and will only last for another 50,000. Come see them before they vanish!
